Borrowed from a friend (who said it was “just ok”).
One Woman’s War by Christine Wells is a work of historical fiction. Simply written and engaging, it’s a slow-burn. It follows two female spies during WWII — Paddy and Friedl. I couldn’t put it down mostly, but I struggled to finish it. The interweaving of timelines was clever and inventive, but I sort of stalled during the latter half of the middle. Not my favorite book, but thoroughly enjoyable. And I learned about Operation Mincemeat which I didn’t know about before. What makes this book different is that it focuses on the women’s stories.
If you are a fan of historical fiction with strong female protagonists, this may be a good book for you!
