Perusing – Little Sister by Elana Gomel

“A novella about friendship and monsters set in Soviet-era Russia”, “a dystopian historical fantasy” is how the cover describes Little Sister by Elana Gomel (author of Nightwood – read my post here). Sveta saves a soldier from a monster (or does he save her?). They wander through a broken world. The story did not disappoint, though I feel I might need to read it through again in order to really understand it. If I could only see through the mirror.

There are not enough books like this one to satisfy my need.

I’m reminded of something I once wrote on my wall: “Light always casts shadows”.
